We filled 4 - 20x20ft spots. We sold a ton and acquired a few great items ourselves! It's always great to see our loyal customers again and to make new contacts as well.

<![CDATA[June 14, 2013 Arts on Main]]>Mon, 17 Jun 2013 16:15:08 GMThttp://rustologyantiques.com/blog/june-14-2013-arts-on-mainPicture
We had a great turn out for Friday's Arts on Main! Fire jugglers, Jeff and Renee, put on a great show. What a unique talent! We are looking forward to having them again. Grafitti artist Olof Aspelin and a couple friends wowed people with their live painting. It is so inspiring to witness the creative process unfold. We also had jewelry artist Chandra set up. She designs and makes really fun metal bracelets, necklaces, rings and other items. Each piece is a work of art! Charlie set up his booth with flowers, herbs and succulent plants. His well thought-out displays include country antiques and are absolutely breath-taking! Finally, Jessica set up a table with gorgeous hand made jewelry and pottery. She always brings beautiful things to sell! We're excited to see this event expand every second Tuesday of the month with more vendors and artists. Spaces are also available to rent every weekend. If you have unique items to sell, feel free to contact us!

<![CDATA[Westside Pickers...A Huge Success!!!]]>Tue, 04 Jun 2013 19:27:36 GMThttp://rustologyantiques.com/blog/westside-pickersa-huge-successPicture
Today the West Springfield Middle School took a field trip to our shop! We had about 50 eight graders browse the shop and the open air market for a treasure (or two) to take home. Michael Chotkowski, a teacher at the school, started a program through the history department called "Westside Pickers". The program is federally funded through a grant that he applied for. The students each have about $20 to spend on an antique to research. When they return to school they write a report on the artifact and share what they learned with the other students. The students were all courteous and well behaved! We had a great time and look forward to having them again in the fall. A big thank you to Mike and Michele :)

<![CDATA[Open Air Market]]>Mon, 01 Apr 2013 20:05:48 GMThttp://rustologyantiques.com/blog/open-air-marketPicture
Here we are cleaning up the vacant lot one building over from our store and across the street from Middle Ground Cafe. It has been an eyesore for a few years. FInally we got permission to use the lot for an open air market! Not only will main street look better, but the market will bring new people to the area. We are looking for unique vendors for the market including Artists, Antique dealers, Organic and Natural Farmers, and other approved vendors.

Our initial plans for the lot include raking, trimming, and cleaning up the garbage. We are planning on straightening the jersey barriers
and having local artist, Olof Aspelin paint a faux stone wall on them. We are also bringing in processed gravel to level and uniform the whole lot. Next step, weather permitting, is to plant flowers and shrubs up top. Also in the plans is to paint the mason blocks that were used to seal up the windows of the old building. Olof Aspelin will be painting these as well. My plans are to create paintings inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement with nods to William Morris, and the Roycrofters.

Click on the "Open Air Market" tab for vendor info. We plan on renting spaces by mid to late April depending on our progress and the weather. We are super excited for this opportunity! Updates will follow. Thanks for loving Rustology :)

Good Morning! We got here bright and early to start working on a new area in the shop. Im working on making a larger vintage clothing and jewelry section Demo, painting etc involved! Hope we can get a good start on it and have it ready for the weekend.

Rustology is open now on Mondays! We've found that Monday is a good day for other dealers to come out.
